October 2011

On September 23, 2011, the California Court of Appeal affirmed an $8.2 million fraud and embezzlement judgment (including $1.3 million in attorneys' fees) successfully obtained by CEFO (as co-counsel) during a nine week trial against a former Chief Financial Officer of one of CEFO's corporate clients. On October 12, 2011, that former CFO was also sentenced to 36 months in prison for tax evasion in connection with her fraud and embezzlement.

John Price, John O'Neill and Jacob Alpren were featured speakers at the 2010 U.S. - China Business Summit held in Las Vegas, Nevada, addressing U.S. legal issues for Chinese Companies Operating in China or the U.S. Subjects included basic legal issues Chinese companies confront when establishing a foothold in the U.S., as well as the impact of U.S. competition law on Chinese companies, regardless of their actual presence in the U.S. John Price and Jacob Alpren were subsequently invited to provide similar presentations in Beijing and Shanghai to local PRC law firms.

John Price was awarded the "Lifetime Community Angel Award" by AnewAmerica Community Corporation, a non-profit dedicated to promoting the long-term economic empowerment of new Americans. John was a founding Board member and served on the Board of AnewAmerica for 10 years.
